Ultram/Tramadol Addicts Please Help

I just started taking Ultram 4 days ago/ 50mg every 6 hours. I am trying to get off Vicodin and Percocet and the Ultram seems to be keeping all of my wd's symptoms away. My concern is how long until I could become physically addicted to Ultram? I get absolutely no high or euphoria from Ultram so I don't see myself wanting more after my prescription runs out. I am however completely freaked out by what everyone is saying about Ultram wd's. They sound horrible!

Could I find myself having wd's from the Ultrams after 4 days?

I am very pissed that my doctor didn't tell me how horrible this drug is to get off of.

Welcome to the board.

Ultram has long been touted as a non-addictive drug. It is what the drug reps filled doctors' heaRAB with. It is through stories from patients that doctors learned the addictive properties of the drug. There were lawsuits. Now the info that comes from the company suggests that people with addiction problems can have an addiction problem with Ultram.

If you have withdrawal symptoms stopping the Ultram after 4 days, I believe the symptoms will actually be from the Percocet and Vicodin. The Ultram is just hitting the same receptors as the opioRAB. No matter which route you take, you will eventually have to face withdrawals.

I can not give any length of time concerning Ultram addiction. However, I do believe that trading Percocet and Vicodin for Ultram is in reality just trading one addiction for another. At some point, you will either have to go cold turkey or taper off one or the other. Talk to your doctor again and express all the concerns.

Thanks so much for your imput. I will most likely taper off the ultram rather than go cold turkey. I have done it CT before and it's hell on earth.
 
I was on Tramadol on and off for a long time. At first the docs said it wasn't a potent drug...as I researched it after being on it for several months, sans the murabo-jurabo, it tricks your brain into thinking it is on a narcotic. The withdrawals can be horrible and I would be under supervision as you taper off. The few times I went cold turkey I had the worst nightmares of my life and felt as if I were crawling out of my skin. Hopefully tapering on a schedule will help you.
