Ultimate Guitarist Poll

I own Led Zeppelin I, II, and III, Best of the Early Days, and How the West was Won. I think I've heard more than the occasional song.

Agree to Disagree

jimmy page is the greates ever. could write guitar play guitar, knew how to manipulate and corabine other instruments with his guitar(theremin, violin bows). he was all around the best there was and is. i just hope he will still show hes got it at the ahmet ertegun tribute in deceraber.

My favorite's currently are:

Paul Gilbert - Crazy fast, in my opinion one of the best shredders.

Eric Johnson - possibly the most technically sound guitar player in the world.

Andy Timmons - slick. nuff said.

Joe Satriani - Not necessarily for his technicality, but I like the funky style.

Dino Cazares (sp?) - Divine Heresy is pretty sweet. His riRAB are like a machine gun. Very solid player.

Adam Dutkiewicz - Just a solid playing style.

Michael Romeo - I've never seen sausages move so fast.

Yngwie Malmsteen - nuff said.

He doesn't really say or even imply that Hendrix had a complicated style anywhere in that paragraph. Definitely not enough to warrant you making a huge deal out of it.

as far as the original question - hendrix. cobain was innovating a new sound with his worRAB and ideas, whereas jimi was innovating a new sound with his guitar. i mean compare playing 'machine gun' to playing 'smells like teen spirit'.

as far as keith urban - although it isnt that relevant, he was born in new zealand and living in australia. besides that he has crossed into this moderately common place with all the other big country stars in a blend between POP with hints of country. now he is a talented guitarist, but honestly as far as country goes brad paisley is better. my opinion might be biased because i only listen to country i REALLY like, which is somewhat few and far between.

I could fart and someone would find it funny, it dosent make me a talented comedian.

How did i contradict myself?

And no, thats not my opinion, those are the factors of skill, anyone who knows theory knows that, and if you want to bring in your own theory, then by all means feel free to share your wisdom.
