when applying for JSA? ...or income support, etc?
I'm currently 38 weeks + 1 day pregnant, and I have a 9 year old from my previous marriage. We found out yesterday that my new partner is being made redundant from his job on Friday this week.

It looks like we will have to apply for state benefits (Job Seekers Allowance or Income Support) at least for a short while, and I wondered if anyone who actually knows could tell me whether or not the child maintenance payments my ex husband makes will be counted as income, and therefore reduce the amount of benefit we are entitled to receive?
My ex husband pays £500 a month maintenance. (That may sound a lot, but bear in mind that his salary is HUGE, and he came out of our divorce very well.) 100% of that is for the upkeep of our son, no element of that money is in respect of me or our divorce settlement.
Any helpful, non-judgemental answers would be appreciated. We are not in our current financial position out of choice, and we are not "greedy" or wanting to take money we are not entitled to. I am just trying to work out some basic figures as to what we might have coming in.
It is a private agreement as such, in that the CSA are not and have never been involved. I have the Court papers in which we both agreed to the payments at that level.
