Comedy Central's newest animated series Ugly Americans premieres tonight at 10:30 PM Eastern, after the season premiere of South Park. Episode synopsis:

The premise sounds like it has potential, but then I've always liked shows about wizards, aliens, robots and other fantasy creatures. I just hope it has interesting plots, appealing characters and decent writing to fall back on. I hope this show doesn't turn out to be all flash and no substance. A unique premise alone doesn't make a show great.

Of course, I'll withhold any critiques on Ugly Americans until I've actually seen it.

The promos Comedy Central's website forces you to sit through before you watch any of their shows don't really do this one any favors, but I still plan to go into this with an open mind. Hopefully it'll be alright.

This was about as good as I expected. Not amazing but there were a few laughs outside of what we saw in commercials which was nice to see. I hope it only gets better.

It was worth the wait, and the buildup paid off. Of course, I am talking about the Futurama promo during the commercial breaks!!!

The episode itself? Ehh... nothing spectacular. I will give it a couple more chances to prove itself, but if it were not preceded by South Park, I wouldn't watch it.

WHAT?!?!

They didn't air THAT during the midnight repeat!! Damn!

As for this show, it's OK, I guess. Nice animation for flash, which has obviously come a long way.

Yeah I saw the Futurama promo also! I can't wait til June. Anyways, this episode was alright. That girl with the demon voice was hilarious. Soon, I think Comedy Central can make a block for all the cartoons.

It was a funny concept and I didn't hate the pilot. Of course, it remains to be seen if Ugly Americans will attract an audience and hopefully won't suffer the same "Just passing through" fate as every other animated series on Comedy Central that isn't South Park.

The animation looks like the same animation done by the guy who used to do the Saturday Night Live "Saturday TV Funhouse" shorts, but it's a different animation studio (Cuppa Coffee).

Actually the studio for Ugly Americans is Augenblick Studios which is also the studio that did SuperJail!. Which was probably why when I saw the preview of Ugly Americans, it reminded me of SuperJail!. ;)

I'm still undecided about Ugly Americans. The premise is interesting and there were some good gags here and there, and I'm still not sure what to make of the characters. They all seem to be somewhat morally ambiguous, so it's hard to know who to root for. Are we supposed to like the demon girlfriend or not? Same goes for Leonard, the wizard: I thought he was funny but his actions toward the main character make me wonder whether he's supposed to have the audience's sympathy or not. Are these characters supposed to be likable jerks or just jerks?

I really like the indie comic look of it and thought that it was pretty darn funny. So they have my attention and I'll remember to tune in next week and see what that's gonna be like. Comedy Central's original animation output tends to be hit or miss with me but I think this will be a fun show.

Very impressed with this show. I loved the pilot and its a breath of fresh air away from the way overdue to be canceled south park which IMO has run its course. Love the Ugly Americans characters and the plot is great. I hope this catches on so we can see more of this show that looks like it has a ton of potential. I already bought the season pass on itunes and cant wait for the next episode.

I'm surprised that the studio that made Superjail made this. The animation is great but I'm in the 50/50 range with this. Wouldve been better if there blood and violence. Btw, dont the designs look like something we have already seen before?
