Ufc 10

Well, I thought this weekend was going to be a blast... UFC 10 was Saturday, and Paul Van Dyk was headlining the show.

It's been a while since I've been to one of these events, mainly because they just make me feel old. Partying with a bunch of 16 year olds who only go to "raves" for the drugs makes me miss the good old days, when it was just about the music.

But I went, it was worth it to me to see Paul. Or was it???

I got there early, the doors opened at 8pm, but I wanted to be there at about 6pm. It was raining, and the line was set up to be just past the overhang at Quest Exhibition Center... smart. I went to grab my umbrella, but they wouldn't let me take it in, and there was no re-entry either, so I couldn't use it for waiting in line, then go ditch it in my car.

For two hours I stood outside, amongst scantily dressed teenagers dressed in tu-tu's and leggings... feeling old as hell, in the rain, in July. I finally get in, and I'm so fucking happy that there's no "happy hardcore" at this venue. The stupid fucks with the whistles were still there, wearing candy up to their elbows, I hate the whistles.

About two hours into the show, the power goes out, and the fire alarm sounds. We're all ushered outside for another half an hour in the fucking rain. When we're finally let back in, most of the scantily clad 16 year old girls are practically naked, and it makes me sick... I stay long enough to see Paul, and he kicks major ass... like always.

But now I'm sick. Out of the 4 people who came with me, three of us are sick... Thanks to standing in the rain, and the massive amounts of cigarette smoke I inhaled while waiting for the firemen to let us back in...

But Paul kicked ass, I'm glad I got to see him live.
