Because the ruling gives the opportunity for all Toyota car owners to seek monetary compensation for no particular reason other than they owned a Toyota car.
Does such ruling applies ONLY to Toyota? Or does it apply to ALL the automakers? Meaning if I were to own a Ford 1 year ago and I find it to be the best ever 5-star car with 0 problem whatsoever and then suddenly news break out that Ford cars are problematic, I can actually seek for monetary compensation merely because I also owned a Ford car? Even though there is zero problem with it?
