U.S.History question?

Hi, could some one help me with this question.
I'm having some problems with it.
From 1600-1763,several European nations vied for control of the NOrth American Continent. Why did England win the struggle?
and explain how it goes along with political, economic, social, and internation.
please and thank you. :D
 
The "New" World represented lots of "free" stuff to the Europeans, who considered anything not already in their possession just so much "uninhabited" territory ripe for the taking.

Spain, being the first on the scene, began the process, but because they actually found gold in Central America didn't have any incentive (or manpower) to branch out to the North American continent until after the French and the English had already moved in on the action, so the pre-revolutionary history of the US and Canada is primarily the story of these two nations struggling for control.

The English won that struggle in the French and Indian War, the last major conflict before the American Revolution.
