U.K Law on Copyright Image Use?

Hi There,

Please could someone let me know if there is any act like the U.S law:

U.S. Copyright Fair Use Act (title 17, U.S. Code.)

If not how would I go about adding images that I find on say Google Images to my own website? What disclaimers would I need to place on my website and what laws would I have to make sure I stick to?
 
I don't know the exact details of that US Act, but there are allowances for fair use in UK copyright law.

But "fair use" does not allow you to publish things just because you want to, and there are no disclaimers you can use to get away with things.

Fair use allows you to, for example, copy small amounts of someone else's work for your own research or educational use. It also allows you to publish an short excerpt of someone else's work as part of a legitimate report or review of that work. But this does not extend to, for example, simply using a picture as an illustration for a related report or article.

In short, you cannot simply take images you find on Google or elsewhere and put them on your web site. You need permission, or license, granted by the owner of each picture. The license may be granted for a fee, or for free, and it may have restrictions or stipulations, such as putting a credit next to each picture.
