Kanokon gets a dub, but Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei doesn't. I'M IN DESPAIR.

Regardless, I'll get the singles since this is probably one of my favorite show ever.

YA! SEAKING.....

(first english-subtitled DVD)

Seriously, why? Why must you make me dislike you rab? Why won't you dub the things I actually want to buy....

Definitely excited to buy SZS. Glad its sub-only and they don't Americanize the jokes with the English dub like Funi did with Keroro Gunso. I refuse to support such messes like that in any way, shape or form.

...Well, it is SZS, which is awesome, but I have to admit, I'm a bit hesitant to buy any DVRAB of it due to the fact that its insane amounts of text in the background makes it nigh impossible to translate all the jokes without editing the video... I mean, sure, the background-text is completely irrelevant to the actual "plot", but some of it is pretty funny.

Ah well, I'll probably end up getting it anyway. Because as I said, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is awesome. Though I really hope they'll try and localize it a little more than Yen Press did with the manga... (The manga-translation tenRAB to be a bit too faithful to the original at times, resulting in a lot of the jokes losing their impact as you have to look up the tl-notes just to know what they're even talking about.)

Glad to see them pick something up people are not erabarrassed to admit liking.

But for me its a big pass-ola. High school comedies = Rather take a bullet in the arm.

Subbed figures, considering the "holy hell is this otaku-centric" nature of the license.

As for all the ecchi licenses, I'm theorizing Media Blasters is making an anti-Adult Swim Action with an intense focus on fanservice. Sort of like Earth 2 or the Injustice Society.

Yes. It finally it been licensed. What that? It sub only?

*falls into despair*

But there are naked chicks in it. Heck one the girls is an walking fanservice.

News write-up, including other rab titles in May. Hope it's all right, but I turned this thread into a general rab May DVD talkback thread.

I'm a bit annoyed that Dragon Destiny's coming out with a box so soon after singles. Makes me wish I hadn't bought vol. 1, as now I just feel like holding out for the complete series.

Double annoyed that there will be no dub with SZS. Haven't seen the show, but from what I understand, it's got a lot of back-and-forth-based humor and that would've benefitted from a dub. And it wouldn't even have to be a gag dub, TheMP3000. If they stayed faithful to the original, it could still be funny based on the English line delivery and a strong cast.

I've only seen a bit of Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, but I liked what I saw and will be picking this up. It's indeed disappointing that it won't get a dub, but its still pretty funny without a translation.

Never watched Rurouni Kenshin, so I might give that a try.

Other sources, such as ANN and Mania, have already said sub-only. The runtime of 6 episodes on 1 disc also supports sub-only. They've never put more than 4 (and 5) episodes on a disc unless its sub-only.

Bah... if you're going to release it sub-only then the least you can do is release it in a set like GaoGaiGar season 2. Sub-only singles? What is this, VHS in the 90s?

It's 6 episodes, which is half of season 1. It's a cheap half-season set, strangely enough. Also, GGG isn't an example for a variety of reasons ranging from poor sales and failed TV deal.

It's a 12(13?) episode show? Then this is even more uncalled for. Push that price to 29.99 or even 34.99 and release the rest of the season in one set. Get with the times Blasters.

Failed TV deal? *raises eyebrow* Never heard GGG was even optioned where did you hear it failed to get a TV deal? Or was that just an assumption?

Boy oh boy.....that's an awesome piece of news to come home to! It sure took long enough, eh?

The price is a bit wonky, but I'm hoping some sort of extra comes with it. Something to explain the jokes that are far too Japanese for us to understand would just be grand...or even required.

On that note, how the hell are they gonna dub it? Keep the references and stuff (hard to pull off), or go a completely new route with the material (also hard, since they would have to get creative with certain things)? What's Family Guy and Seinfeld got to do with it?

Either way, this is gonna be interesting.
