TX Users: TealScript now Compatible

TealScript 3.83 is out and is now fully compatible with the "lower bar button" (or lack thereof?) on the TX. Just passing along.

Although I'm still using the T3 (for now), I upgraded since the auto-caps zoning has been improved a bit too; you can now be more specific:

I use "wide area 3 zone," allowing for caps in a middle "zone" instead of a "line." Now the cap is better instructed how and where to begin. You can choose "on" or "near" the line, or "never."

I find "never near" is best and I've had an improvement already in detected corrections. Using the zoning "diagram" a/A/1, I'm less likely to have a number make a Cap, as it did before. By the way, you can also have caps start on left side - or anywhere you feel more comfortable.

Could you let me know what Teal script is and what it does. I find this forum really helpful and access it most days. Thank you to all who contribute - I enjoy my Tungsten all the more for your postings.
 
Allows you to fine tune, completely alter or "fix" your graffiti strokes. Sick of making a crossed t in Graffiti 2? Change it. Make a "k" your way. Stop getting the wrong stroke all the time when you make a letter "not quite the way they want you to."

It also affords "macros," like a "triangle" shape that writes up to 10 characters. Words like:

The
Before
(current month)
(your local area code)

can be reduced to a graffiti stroke.

Furthermore it allows to re-zone the graffiti area - letters OR numbers on the left, mid-line capitalize or not, 3 different distinct zones (as I talked about above) for small letters, caps in the middle and numers on the right - or anywhere YOU designate.

It also affords "sensitivity" for on-screen writing, and the ability to make "on screen writing" NOT WORK or WORK for certain applications. Say you have an image viewer that will drag images(like Acid Image) or a push-button calculator -- you can tell TealScript not to allow on-screen writing for that application.

In short it lets you have graffiti "your way," and gives you a default "set" to start with (which I quickly got rid of and made my own - you probably will too!). It allows you to then "practice" those strokes and grades you and/or makes small corrections to your writing style automatically - as well as lets you "bias" it for hand-slant, which differs among individuals.

For such a complicated application it really is quite "intuitive," and does a lot for you in the background. Once you set it up, you can forget about it - and you'll wonder how you used "regular graffiti" at all!
 
TealPoint is a software company that makes quite a number of products for Palm OS based PDAs. TealScript is a one of their products. It is an atlernate character recognition system for Palm OS' Graffiti [2]. It is the next-best-thing to Graffiti 1.

PalmTealLover, I've noticed that TealScript has had some sensitivity issues on the units I've tried it on (iQue 3600, Zire, Zire 31) when compared to replacing the input engine with the original Graffiti 1. Have you ever noticed this, and has it been fixed?
 
epp_b: I did notice a difference with the early 3.xx "series," but wrote it off to "it takes a second for the T3 to process the commands." I did improve things by setting "initial tap" prefs and selecting the new "auto-detect" option.

There have been MANY new options added in the last, oh I'd say . . . 6 months. You might want to give the new one a whirl. I'm so used to it I can't tell - my correcton rate is between 0 and 1% on a database of thousands of characters. I know what you mean about "sensitivity" of the internal graffiti (I actually didn't mind Graffiti 2, believe it or not) - but when you make no mistakes it's worth that "possible" difference. I don't notice it and believe the settings changes made the difference. In the end, though - it's your writing on your handheld - if you like Graffiti 1 the way it is then that's definitely what will make you most productive. Personally I think the "zoning" options, macros and "learning curve" for the way people write is worth it - even if they left the default Graffiti 1 characters in place.
 
I certainly do like my Graffiti 1 :)

I will use it until it's completely dead (you'll have to pry it...well, you know the rest ;)) - then it'll be time for Tealscript. Graffiti 2 will never deserve the touch of a stylus in my hand.
