TX - unable to HotSync w/ Bluetooth or IR

I've tried hotsyncing my TX with my Lenovo/IBM T43 Thinkpad. No luck. Here's the error message I'm getting: "Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application."

Assume I have some setting screwed up or I missed something in the setup. Anyone have any possible solutions? I hear the two devices "connect" ... but can't seem to get the final step (where Hotsyncing works) to work.

Also ... can't get the IR feature to work between the two devices, too. I'm stuck using the USB cable that came with the TX.

Thanks.

Hi. I have the same problem with my Tungsten T5. I get the same message as you when I try to hotsync with Bluetooth. I do not have a problem with IR. Appreciate some help to resolve this. Thanks.

Hi try the following and see if you can do a hotsync via bluetooth. I managed to get it working for my Tungsten T5.

I assume you have paired your PDA with the leno. Follow the following steps:-
1. Go to start.
2. Click on control panel.
3. Click on printers and other hardware.
4. Click on bluetooth local Com.
5. Click on the add button.
6. Under types of com port, select "Create a bluetooth virtual Com port for a server".
7. Click on next.
8. You will come to a screen that shows you the existing com ports and a small window which says "com port you want to create". Accept the default com port you want to creat and click on next.
9. Click on next.
10. In the next screen under the service profile you should see "serial port".
11. Click on finish.
12. Next go to the Hotsync icon at the bottom tray of your laptop. Click on it.
13. Go to setup and clik on it.
14. Go to the local tab. The comm port stated there must be the same as the on cerated is steps 6 to 10 above.
15. Click on ok once you have done step 14 above.
16. Go back to the hotsync icon in the bottom tray and make sure that "local" is checked.

Try synching now. I did the above and it work nows.

Sorry cant help you with IR.

Surrinder's procedure should work. The reason why you have this problem is because you have another usb devices that is using that very same COM port which is used by your BLUETOOTH HOTSYNC. Now, you can try also this procedure:

1. Take note of the COM PORT that your BT hotsync driver is using.
2. COnnect the other BT devices that you use and verify which of them is using the same port as your BT hotsync.
3. Once you have found it, uninstall the driver of that device and then reinstall and make sure that it is in another COM Port.

as simple as that.

I got it to work ... and the help/posts really helped. What finally made the difference, after working on this for a couple of nights was something awfully simple, but isn't that always the case? I clicked on the Hotsync Icon, then setup ... and clicked on local. Still wouldn't work (com port wasn't recognized, etc.). Finally, I took off the check mark by the "Local USB" option (leaving ONLY the check mark by "local") ... tried syncing ... and it worked.

Many thanks. Appreciate your help.

LOlz... that's GREAT! ;)

Here's what you need to take note dude.. When synchronizing using your USB cable, Local USB shoule be the only that is checked. But if you are synchronizing using BT or IR, LOCAL should be the only one that is checked.
