TX Problem, Need Help

I just purchased a TX and have had it for a day. Upgrading from a IIIe, so it takes a while to get used to. Everything has been working great. Today I had to do a soft reset when I was viewing a picture of the SD card and the unit would not respond at all. Since then, when I tap the Doc to go on the screen, the unit does a soft reset, everytime...6 times so far. Please help as I need to use the docs to go feature.

Thanks

Your description is a little vague. What do you mean by " I was viewing a picture of the SD card"?

Also, what exactly do you mean by "when I tap the Doc to go on the screen"? Do you mean when you tap the image in the graffiti area, just above and to the right of the numbers entry box or do you mean when you tap the regular DTG icon in an applications screen or from within the 'Favorites'?

Have you installed apps on it that you used on your IIIe? They may not work correctly and can cause odd problems. If you have installed apps that are not known to be OK with the TX I would suggest that you do a hard reset and start over. Maybe it will be necessary to hard reset anyway.

Does it work correctly without the SD card installed?

I have learned that it is possible to shock the TX's USB port with your finger and cause problems such as resetting all "sounds" to OFF. All I needed to do was go to Prefs and reset them but the point is that a high voltage discharge can change things.

I was viewing a picture on a SD card, I tapped the screen to go back to view the other pictures in the album, thats when it locked up. The picture stayed on the screen and nothing worked (buttons etc). I did a soft reset and everything was fine, except when I tapped the docs to go icon, it did another soft reset. I tried from the favorites menu and the same thing happened. I finally did a hard reset, tried docs to go before I did a hot sync and it worked normally. I did a hot sync and it was back to soft resetting itself. Did another hard reset, worked fine, did a sync, BAM....soft resetting itself again. It is only the docs to go that does it.

As for 3rd party software, I only have 1 program (Weight Watchers) didnt have any issues yesterday or today, has been working in my wifes Tung E for 2 years.

Right now I am uninstalling the palm software and will try another hard reset and create a new user and go from there. This is very frustrating as I thought I had found the perfect PDA, and it worked well for about a day.
Not sure what to do if this doesnt work...I guess call tech support in the A.M. or return it to Best Buy and start over.

It sounds like Docs is the problem, If the screen indicates open db error at the soft reset DTG may need to be reloaded. Make sure your word files, and or sheets are saved in my doctuments on the desk top. Delete all of DTG from the TX. Word to go, sheet to go and anything else related to DTG. Do a hot sync. Reinstall DTG and hot sync again. If eveything is syncing ok, then reload you word files and sync again. I did this when I had syncing problems, and it stopped the problem. Good luck.

How do I delete software from the TX? Searched through the user guides and there is nothing there(probably for good reason).

Any help is appreciated.

When you first turn on the TX tap menu. You will get a pop up with app. Under app. there is delete, beam, send and so on. Tap delete and you can delete any program. Be warned, unless you backed up the files on your pc (Word and sheets)then they will be lost. Also be sure you have your registration number. It may ask you for it again. You should have gotten a user manual when you downloaded the TX program. It will have all the details on the workings of your device. It it worth reading. DTG can cause funny problems. For me it was just a matter of deleting it from my palm, then reinstalling it, and it corrected the problem. A lot depends on what type of error message you received upon the soft reset. Check on the Templar get problem I had near the end of the Tand TX general post. It was caused by DTG.
