TX Pauses/Freezes

Everything's working great except...

When I click Blazer, the thing goes to a white screen for 30 secs to a minute. Then Blazer starts and everything's fine. This happens if I'm connected or not. Nothing I've tried has helped.

Any ideas?

I hope you're still looking...

I didnt notice the post.

I have a solution for you - guaranteed.

1 of the 2 following apps will solve your problem.

OffFlush

MemInfo

Both programs have the ability to 'flush' your RAM. Apparently, the T|X uses slower ram than other devices that's why we see lag time when opening some applications such as Blazer.

Have fun with these apps!

As Camski indicated, the TX uses a "flash" memory for storing all the programs you have on the device. Before it can run the program it needs to move the program into its non-flash "cache" and this takes a little time. Additionally, when a program starts, if there is not enough space in the "cache", the operating system clears out the space needed by the program. Blazer, WorldMate and a few others request a lot of space, both for the program and the data it will use to operate. This is what you are seeing with Blazer. As a test, you can do a soft reset (press the reset button in the back), and when it is complete DON'T run any other program, just start Blazer. You should see it start much more quickly. (A soft reset clears the "cache" and so all is available). As you run other programs, cache gets used / cleared for each of them and if you then go back to Blazer, you'll notice the slowdown on startup once again.

Both of the programs mentioned allow you to monitor / clear the cache memory of the TX, similar to a soft reset. The advantage to each is you can specify the TX clear the cache when you turn it off, thereby giving you a "clean" slate (so to speak) when you start again. If you use "off flush", you'll notice that there will be times when you turn off the TX that it will actually stay on until the cache is cleared, then turn off. What you've effectively done is "control" when the cache gets cleared so that when you start again, the TX is ready for any large program that happens to start up.

That's a VERY accurate description of what this software does :p

The only issue i have with the above programs is that they're very slow to flush the RAM.

 My TX came with Blazer v.4,3 preinstalled. I have experienced similar problems with resetting of the Palm, when trying to use this program.
I have read the thread and tried to find download sites for the mentioned programs, but in vain. Offflash seems to comr from some outlandish sites with strange characters, which I dont understand, so I was unable to perform a download. Meminfo seems to be many programs for Windows, Linux etc.; but I only found it meant for Treo.
Please inform me about useable download sites.
I also wonder if there is a better browser for the TX, as I find it a little unpractical to have to perform a soft reset, every time I want to acces the internet.
