TX Crash

Been a while since I've had any problems with the Ol' Tx. Today, every time I select Calendar, or push the preset button to go to the calendar, it causes a reset/reboot. It hotsyncs fine with no errors noted, everything else works perfectly (the other buttons and other programs). Any suggestions. Hey Mooseman, you still out there, don't forget I owe you a couple of beers. You never called or wrote to collect, after your move.

Haven't forgotten the beers - just dodging the tornados here in N. Texas and been busy with the job. Most of my time is spent over in Lewisville - so that might be close enough to hoist a couple.

I'll send you an email for times.

Here is my suggestion on your issue to start isolating the possible cause:

Delete both the CalendarDB-Pdat and DatebookDB on the handheld using FileZ and then soft reset the handheld.

Then hit the calendar button and see if the device resets. If it doesn't the issue is a corrupted record in your Calendar.

Follow the next step: Export all of your Calendar data via the Palm Desktop File>Export option. Be certain to export them all to a CSV file which you can confirm by looking at the CSV file in Excel.

Once they are all exported - delete them all from the desktop. And HotSync to get everything back to zero on both platforms.

Then import the previously exported CSV file and restore your calendar. This process clears corrupted records (probably tied to a upcoming BD in the next week or so) and then set the hotsync so that the Desktop overwrites the Handheld and resync and see if the issue is solved.

Well as usual the resident genius comes through again. I skipped a couple of steps in the middle, because I knew that when it worked without those two files, that it was a corrupted file. I did export the Palm DB but it came out as a .dba. Of course that opens in XL, but that doesn?t guarantee that it is a .csv. So I chanced just hotsyncing and voila everything is back to it usual screwed up little self.

Thanks again. Got your other message and will answer later when I wake up. I work overnights again, but I retire 6/30/07. Thanks again,
drbaer
