Two months of plans destroyed...

I decided to build a mini PC two months ago.

Well, I planned out shit for two months. It was going to be PIMP.

I was assembling it, and while it was in the tray, I was shocked. Most beautiful machine I ever built; this thing needed a window.

Everything was in perfect proportion. Then all hell broke loose.

The tray would not fit in. I thought it was the CD-ROM drive. I took it out.

No go.

Then, my worst fears were realized: This rig couldn't have an internal CD-ROM drive.

"Okay, I'll jerryrig something!"

It still didn't fit.

The culprit?

The cooling system collided with the case. Thanks HP, your custom shit can suck my balls.

Nicest looking rig I ever made, yet I can't make it. Bullshit.

I spent over one month working out the cooling system for the case, because it lacked one. Well, my plans are worthless.

I really worked hard on this, and I was going to submit it to a few mod sites. It really had a good chance of winning some money. Now, I have nothing. No case to work with.

I'm sad. I really wasted my time on this. I should have tried assembling it first, before I bought the motherboard.

20+ hours of planning in the trash  .

That sucks wicked bad man...Funny how life works out sometimes...

I have come to realize that it's more than just a coincidence, when every thing you do requires a dozen steps and you still end up with problems.

Don't give up man! So the case you bought won't work. Well, there's LOTS of cases out there that might do it for you.

When shit doesn't work out that just means you gotta change the plans. Adjust them a bit and go a different direction. I mean you got a pimp system that just needs a shell right? So make one. Go with lexan, legos, wood... anything.

Oh, as for HP. :mfinger: They haven't made anything worth owning for quite a while. Even their good printers are just integrated shit from other vendors.

Exactly. Just because your plans got fucked, that doesnt mean you can't alter them a little.

*wipes tear from left eye* fucking beautiful. Always good to hear from a fellow HP hater.

Hp's servers and networking appliances are actually pretty good. Now, they're no IBM or Cisco, but they definitely give the others some competition.

Hey, I ended up putting it in a Dell case with a back panel I ripped out, and I put the mobo/PCI/AGP tray from the HP in it.

I'm upload pics tomorrow, it's the funniest looking half assed contraption you'll ever see.

*Runs out for some tin snips.*

Oh yeah, and I think I will build my own Aria...Using the HP mobo tray, of course.

Cedar would make a fine case, and a top window could be made with a sheet of Plexi.

Finished Wood = Sophistication at a LAN.

Well, that's true. If you have to have an HP server or switch things could be worse.

Now I used to LOVE their drive arrays. Until they outsourced them from Toshiba.
