...though they KNOW who did it? Ok, to all the police who will answer this, I appreciate what you do, really I do, and I know my neighborhood is safer because you guys are out there risking your lives to make it that way.
My fiance had some work done on his car last year, we think one of the guys sold our info because not 2 weeks later the car was broken into. My fiance works for a computer company and is required to carry a lot of car stock (extra parts, etc) the first time they made off with almost $20,000 in parts, equipment and his work issued laptop (and about $900 worth of MY cds).
Not only did they refuse to come out (ok, you guys are busy I get that) but WHEN THEY CAUGHT THE THIEVES RED FUCKING HANDED WITH MORE STOLEN PROPERTY IN A STOLEN CAR and didn't arrested them.......Seriously WTF? They said it was something about them being next to the car and not in it although the one guys wallet was in the car along with mt fiance's laptop (which was returned).
And now here we are, again it's been broken into, smashing the window this time (costing us $200 to fix) and AGAIN taking his laptop, they left the rest since it's not really hawk-able (and yes I know he's a flaming fucking moron for leaving it in his car, I thought he was smart enough to know that they'd be back eventually, I guess I was wrong).
We told the police that it'd been broken into before and that they found the guys but still they refuse to do anything (at least that's what it's looking like since they didn't do anything last time, it was pure luck that they found them, and they aren't even getting back to us for another 2 or 3 days). It wasn't random since no other cars in our complex were broken into.
So please, someone (cops especially) tell me that legally there's very little they can do, or they're already doing all the can do, or something so I'm not as pissed. I know it's considered "petty theft" but it's not so petty when my fiance can get fired over it. Besides what reason do they have to stop if there isn't any consequences for their criminal behavior?
