TV screen went black and burning smell?

Ok this older Mitsubishi TV all of a sudden went black tonight when I turned it on, I could hear the program on though. And then I turned the TV off and I smelled a burning smell, this TV has never gave me a problem and this is really out of the blue.

I unplugged the tv at 8pm and now its been 4.5 hrs.....should I try to see if it works now.....or burning smell from before means fire hazard?
