TV Out connection question?

If I go somewhere, I'd love to be able to bring my computer and not my monitor, and just plug it into a TV if I had to, for example, check my emails. Like most my card has HDTV out, what exact kind of cable would I need to plug it in, and where would I plug it in to? And, does this mean it "supports HDTV" or "only works on HDTVs"? So can I hook it up to an old blocky TV?
