Since ive been asked how to get it to work i thought id write a little tutorial CONSTANTLY UPDATED :

THIS TUTORIAL NOW WORKS WITH THE FOLLOWING APPLICATIONS :
IM+
GoogleMaps and the rest of the google suite
Opera
Y!messenger
Windows Live Search

FOR THE PEOPLE THAT DONT HAVE ACCESS TO A DATA PLAN OR A PAY AS U GO CARD :
Find a friend with NO data plan but no blocked internet access. Get their sim card, put it in your phone, use the same TCP settings as below, download everything, setup the apps, then TAKE OFF THE TCP SETTINGS and put ur sim card back in . Your friend will be charged 5c/kb which should add up to around 5-10bucks after youre all done

INSTRUCTIONS FOR LiveSearch:

I TOOK OFF THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR LiveSearch because after actually setting it up to direct HTTP and not media.com (thanks bonder for the heads up) IT DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE. So i dont know if using media.com will get you charged or not but i wont take the chance. maybe s0ur888 can let us know when he gets his bill. It worked for me on media.com and used it for 3seconds to check but after i set it up to direct HTTP it stopped working. So i personnaly am taking it off.

SORRY GUYS

IM+ link to get im+ :
IM+ you can download a free trial.
The application is 50$ but you make it back by saving from rogers and it is the best IM app IMO

To get Google Maps and Opera Mini to work heres what you got to do :

First you need to NOT have the 15$ plan yet. You have to be on a regular data plan first. I was on the 10mb one. When you are on there get Google Maps via the wap browser and Opera mini via desktop install. The TCP settings for this normal data plan are : internet.com no user no pass
After you've done that set them both up to work. Now when they are up and running, call rogers and switch to the 15 personal email plan. After you do that MAKE SURE you take off the TCP settings and leave them blank
Do a battery pull, after that google maps should be working. As for Opera Mini, launch it, press the menu key -> option -> LAST option : change it from socks to HTTP.

And there u go unlimited browsing on the 15$ plan.

YOU ARE NOT RUNNING FULL INTERNET (HTML) WITH OPERA MINI, PUSH EMAIL AND PIN WITH THE PLAN, AND REAL GPS (3m accuracy for the 8310) WITH GOOGLE MAPS all were missing here is voice directions for gps but you know what ? for 15bucks i DONT CARE haha its the cheapest bb plan ever !!

UPDATE FOR GOOGLE TALK AND YAHOO! MESSENGER

Basically do an OTA install following the same steps as earlier (regular data plan)
from those adresses :

gTalk
Yahoo! Messenger

Here is another link for gTalk try a dekstop install by launching IE7 (and only IE7) on this link and having your berry plugged it. gtalk desktop that seemed to do the trick for my friend.

Then when you should have the service books registered on ur phone. If that doesnt work let me know ill update with more information.
If you cant get the service books theres a couple things.

Here is the link to my personal backup that should add service books for all of RIMs IM clients Here !!
Credits go to timekeeper for the instructions on how to install them (im getting lazy with all this writing lol jk

After you install them just go on the BIS page and resend youre rogers service books (just to be safe)

1/ always try a battery pull before anything lol :P
2/ check ur time and date. Gtalk has had the issue of setting u back a month
3/ try to re-register from the host routing table. (option->advanced option->host routing table-> option->register). that should do the trick.
4/ if not delete all ur service books and get rogers to send them to u again
5/ if not then on the googletalk webpage theres an email for RIM contact them with ur pin number and tell them u cant get the service books.

The Gmail app also works with those settings, im guessing the whole google suite works as long as u set them up before switching to the 15plan

Now ONE BIG TIP. At the end of february rogers is switching this plan to 15$ unlimited email + 2mb of browsing. MAKE SURE YOU DONT GET TRANSFERED TO THAT CUZ IF YOU DO YOU WILL GO OVER THE 2MB. JUST TELL THEM YOU WANT TO KEEP THE 15 WITH NO BROWSING BECAUSE YOU ARE SCARED OF GOING OVER 2MB.

Well I thank you anyway, I have been trying to get Opera Mini 4 to load on my phone but am having no luck. I have the $15.00 plan and am only been able to download the mini (generic) as a .jar file. After I install it from my media card it will load to only about 70% then says it can't make internet connection.

If I try to use the aIx file with my app manager, it say no updates are available for the BB. Do you have any ideas?

thats my point u have to have a regular data plan to install them THEN u switch to the 15. now if u wanna do that go back to a normal data plan then switch back to 15

at first i couldnt get opera to install. but heres what i did, download the 4.3 desktop manager, and install it through there, for some reason that worked for me

ranxoren, I hope you dont mind, I hijacked part of your post for the crackberry forum for Rogers!!!

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with Google Talk and the $15 plan?

I tried, but got a service not enabled for this handheld error. Since there are workarounds for other apps, I thought there might be one for GT.

Thanks for any info.

Thanks a lot for that. I will test that out later. I got Google Maps working, I get an error about it not being able to connect and it will keep trying, but I can zoom and move, so I am guessing it is working.

I just haven't got it to recognize my GPS yet, but that should come with some playing.

yep just make sure you get your coordinate from ur gps options THEN launch google maps
(option->advanced option-> GPS-> refresh)

ps : gmail app also works for people that need HTML (im not too sure if it displays pictures or not but its nicer email anyways if u dont need ur gmail account to push)
