Turning off beep sound when on the phone and you get a text.?

I have an att xenon. I want to know if there is a way to turn of the sound your phone makes when you get a text message, while your talking on the phone. Like when your talking on the phone, and you get a text, the phone makes a loud beep sound, is there a way to turn that off ?
