Turn a Classic into a classic

Pez: When is your bike due in? I ordered mine in November and it arrived on January 11. WHAT A WONDERFUL MACHINE IT IS!!! You are soooo going to love it. Mine is Teal/Antique white. It had a grain of sand or spec of dust in fuel tank paint. The tank was replaced with a new one last week. Zero orange peel as some owners have found. I have gone with the leather and studs and fringe look. It so fits this model. No leather bags on the market can compare to the classic bags. Of course I am subjective. I have taken some nice photos wtih an "old style" 35mm camera. I will look into trying to post them but it will be awile as I am trailering the bike to New York in three weeks. Richie

FYRDUDE: VERY, VERY HANDSOME MACHINE!! I have a '09 Classic and it is the "CAT'S MEOW" in spades!! The other day I saw the one and only Road King with BEAUTIFUL chrome neck covers and down tube. It spiffs up the black bar and covers the serial numbers and plate...and no that is not a concern to me. I ordered mine from Harley today and with 10% HOG discount they came to $191.30. Your year bike are less expensive. These are sold under the KURYAKYN name. Have other nostalic additions also. Best of fun, luck, adventure and excitement to you. Richie

jmcollison: Every time, brother....everytime I see a picture of your Heritage Springer I just get all teared-up. That is an absolutely stunning bike! HD is coming out with their custom colors in purple/silver sometime in April...I can't wait to see it on the RKC. BTW, what is the chrome tube on the left side of your bike, just in front of the Howard's Horns?

Blue Marlin 1: First, welcome to the forum. You started out right by meeting this group of Classic owners! Please post pic's of your bike ASAP. I'm very interested in seeing how you used your fringe. Beware though...Classic owners think it'll look good but you'll find others who don't like fringe as much as you'd think. Who cares, right?

fyrdude: You've taken great care of your 2001 RKC. Beautiful color and well cared for. Post more pics as the bike progresses.

Whiskers, not sure exactly what you are referring to, but there are probably two possibilities. 1) the highway peg folded up and mounted on the engine guard or 2) I have the Kuryakyn covers from the frame gusset that covers the neck down the downtubes of the frame. It's a nice touch, and VERY easy to do.

BTW Whiskers, I just picked up a Motherwell solo luggage rack (like yours). It really looks nice with the grab rail on the solo Corbin, ties in with the saddlebag guards too! Photos one of these days.

jmcollision: You're right, and my bad...I was looking at the folded up highway peg (my old eye's ain't what they used to be). Love the Corbin rail and priced out their seat + rail - Ouch!

So name me something that went on the scoot that didn't hurt? That's the pain I love and live for. I think it was around $1600 for the whole setup, seat, rail, driver backrest, pillion and the passenger backrest pad in the feaux snakeskin.

Blue Marlin 1, Whiskers; Thanks for the compliments! Can't wait to see pics of the '09. Great choice in colors And I'm envious every time I see Whiskers bike on here, it's definitely the direction I'm heading, it's just taking me a while. In between little purchases I just clean.
I'm actually thinking now of throwing some blackened pieces in the mix, not a lot... I'm trying to make the chrome more of an accent than the majority. I'm hoping it may add to the "classic" look. Not going nuts like blacking out the motor, just adding some black inserts like some of the covers.. ect. I just got a black shift linkage from UPS today.

Nice scoot Bagger! I've got family in OR and manage to get up that way to ride most every year. Had a good one last year and I'm planning on an even better ride this September. I just joined the Oregon Riders Group on here as well.
