great thread! I'm doing the retro on my classic and will post pics.

Whiskers, which rear solo rack is that on your bike? did I read somewhere you had the motherwell and switched to the HD.
 
All your bikes have that earley HD look, just thinking how a springer front would look on a Roadking.

Ihave notseen one yet, but someone would have tried it.

Love the photos keep them coming.
 
GaryP: The rack on my bike is a Motherwell and they make a nice product. I've never owned the rack made by HD.

Smokun: I've seen those flexible shields on a couple other bikes here on the forum and when done right they really look great. I guess I didn't realize they were available from Custom Chrome. Have you seen the Roadhouse exhausts? They have a similar shield on their pipes and they really do look good.

Gary, I started out with the Motherwell, but it was rather "petite" and I didn't think it would hold a small duffel very well. So I ended up with the HD Detachable Solo Rack, which is quite a bit beefier:
 
Hey Whiskers - I'm really liking my fishtails/sharkfins, but yours seem to tuck in under the bags so much nicer than mine. Are yours the SuperTrapps or the SE's? Mine are the SE's and just don't want to slide inside the header as far as I want. I took 5/8" off of each header pipe and managed to get the ugly weld up to the edge of the heat shield, but I'd still like to see them tuck under another inch or so.
 
I did check out the Roadhouse Brand exhaust and I'll have to be honest, I don't really like the way it looks! I think I'll just go with the supplied heat shields from V&H. I'm glad you pointed these out to me so I could see them on a RK. JP Cycles also sells the flex shields for $26 if anyone else is interested.

I think my next moves will be a different horn cover, fender rail, saddlebag rails, and some Andrews 26 cams. I was thinking of getting some polished rotors, but I haven't found any I like.
