Since no spray, drops , or steroid tablets have shifted my swollen tissue in nose, is surgery my only hope of releive in this situation.The operation i have read about is the " submucosal resection " an incision about 1 cm at the front end of turbinate, Through the incision he/she carefully snips away outer 2mm/3mm of turbinate bone and some surrounding tissue, but leaving much of the turbinate bone.The result is that the overall size of the turbinate is reduced-permanently because bone has been removed - but the mucosal surface is left intact and theres enough turbinate left to humidfy and filter your air.The procedure is more expensive and has longer recovery but better long time result.Anyone had this done what was result how did you feel after.
Big worry is that my swollen tissue is STRESS, related and by having operation will not make a difference.
My life has stopped around this issue since june this year, family , work etc all effected, i must get to end of tunnel before it kills me.

I can't use inhalers either. I am going in soon to have endoscopic nasal exam, and carterization of the turbinates. Dr. told me it will do wonders for me, and be like a permanent inhaler. SounRAB good to me.
 
I went ahead with the surgery, bilateral turbinectomy(partial), because no steriod nasal spray, oral medications, etc helped me. In fact, my condition got even worse. I was eventually choking on my own mucus, I can't finish my meal because I feel tired from breathing through my mouth... I was just too fatigue. My doctor mentioned surgery a few times but I turned down. I didn't know what to expect from the surgery. But finally, I went for it as I was getting worse and nothing else help.

The surgery was very painful for me, I would never want to go for another if I had to. My head was pounding, I was very nausea and kept vomiting, the nasal and frontal face area was in excruciating pain. The nasal packs were causing a lot of pressure. Removal of the nasal packs was horrible... ...

But after I recovered, I could feel the big difference... I could breathe through my nose again! Although the right side has a lesser airflow going through.

However, they have better medical advances where they do radio-frequency on the nasal turbinates instead of the traditional method of going under GA and scapel method. They inject anesthetic into the turbinates and tiny electrodes are used to heat the turbinate tissues from within thus reducing the size of it. There's little or no bleeding and pain...

However, I'm back on steroid nasal sprays but my condition is not as bad as before.

i had this Surgery. it does help make breathing a lot easier, especially when im sick i dont feel as Stuffy, but it did nothing for my headaches and sinus pressure. i might be going back for a 3rd surgery.
 
I had this surgery several years ago. I hated the procedure b/c I was swallowing a lot of blood and I couldn't wait til the ENT Dr. was finished. He told me that I wouldn't produce as much mucous, but I still do and my breathing is only slightly better than it was before the surgery.
