Tuning an Alpine car amp?

I have two 12" Kicker L5's (1200 watts 600rms) each and a Alpine vpower 1000 watt mono amp. I was just wondering how to go about tuning the amp to get my subs tho hit the hardest and clearest. Mainly hard. Please be detailed.
 
Make sure the subs are hooked up at the lowest Ohm load the amp is stable at to get as much power out of it as possible.

Ensure the amp is on low pass

Adjust the low pass filter for about 180hz

Turn the cd player to the highest you plan on ever playing it, and play a rap song with a lot of heavy bass, preferably one that hits the note that youre box is tunes for, then turn the gain up until you start hearing it sound distorted, then leave it right under that mark.

Also, its best for the subs to break in by playing them at a lower volume for awhile, like a week or so, then crank it up.
