Tungsten T memory

I have used a Tungsten T for over 2 years now. Aside from the digitizer issue the only complaint I have is the amount of memory. I was hoping that the Lifedrive was going to be my next palm- but the reviews have changed my mind. Several programs that I use, or would like to use. take up too much memory. These programs, AvantGo, Vindigo and ePocrates- all recommend not using the programs off an SD card. I have heard that there is some software now that might allow all programs to work off an SD card. If this is true than my trusty TT will suffice until a good replacement comes along. Is anyone aware of this software and it's compatability with these programs?
Thank you,

There are really no Palm programs that "run" off the SD card. Some programs will live on the SD card but are always copied back into RAM to run. Programs like zLauncher allow you to move almost every program to an SD card but you stil need eough free RAM to run a big program like ePocrates. Programs like zLauncher help keep the amount of RAM maximized for other programs to run but you can't really work around that 14 mb of available RAM. Even moving up to something like the E2 would help since you'd double your available RAM. The T5 will give you about 55 mb of available RAM to run programs. I'm also a little leary of the LifeDrive right now and would hold off purchasing one until Palm works out some fairly significant bugs.

FYI - I have a T5.
I run ePocrates on my hard drive. I run Avantgo content on my SD card. You can configure this right on your device in AgConnect.
I live, die, swear, and dance by PowerRun....I have use it on Palm Vx, Palm m515, T3, and T5.

I can recommend ZLauncher because it does so many things well. I'm not familiar with Powerun as Carol points out.....nor am I familiar with a Hardrive on the T5. :D Sorry Carol - just couldn't resist.

My suggestion is to look at all options and the one that doesn't provide you with a shareware version to try....stay away from.

Hey Moose
No worries with the difference of opinion about PowerRun and ZLauncher. Everyone has their own opinions. It just depends on preferences. At least Pearls will learn that it is important to check out each software to see what works best for what he is striving to accomplish.

1. Get a card reader for you PC, if you don't already have one. The price is about $20.

2. Copy all the file from the smaller card to a temporary folder on you PC

3. Put the new card in the card reader and copy all the files from the temporary folder to the new card

4. Done!

I got a card reader and copied all of the files from my SD card to a folder on my computer. I "borrowed" my wifes larger SD card and deleted her song files since she wasn't using it anyway. My plan was to put my files on her larger SD card. However, when I put her card into the reader it said that it wasn't formatted and when I replied that I would like the computer to format it for me- the reply was that it can't be formatted. The card seems to be OK-when I put it in the palm I am able to copy files to it- but the computer won't recognize it. How do I format this card so that I can transfer my old files to it?

I think you should put it in your PDA and format it from there. I had to do this recently and formatting the Card on the PDA is what the system wanted.

Well, hate to say this but I would have advised an application like Softick Card Export rather than a card reader. I know from my own experience that my card reader will usually read data that my palm has written to a card but my palm will often not read things that my PC has written to the card. The advantage of using a product like Softick is that you are efectively using the palm as a card reader / writer.

Of course, just to be a complete wise ass, the T5 has this functionality already built in.

As for the earlier comments, I used Powerun for some time and can't fault it. However, the major advantage of Zlauncher is it's many built in functions, it's flexibility and the fact that it is so actively supported by the developer.

I just bought ZLauncher. I think I installed all of the components. However, when I try to open it I get a message:
"No available theme for this device! Please install a suitable theme for this device (like ZLT_AquawoodXP_Hi_64k.prc)"
I see this file when I check it on FileZ. How do I get the program to work?
I can't even get to the screen to register the software.

Thanks,
ESPearls

As the error message suggests, you have to have at least one theme loaded fo zLauncher to work. Go to the Theme folder of the original zLauncher downlaod and sync one of the themes - ZLT_AquawoodXP_Hi_64k.prc is a good start.

How do you run ePocrates on your T5s hard drive? I am unable to load it at all on my T5. Its driving me nuts! At first it loaded but the Dx portion wouldn't run, now it has disappeared completely from my PDA.

Well, I would definitly contact ePocrates support. I have no problems with putting ePocrates on my hard drive. It will not run on the SD card.
