Hello,

I think I might have a brain tumor. Let me start that I always thought I've had a brain tumor since 6th grade, and now I am a freshman in college. Now let me start with my symptoms. I feel that my cognitive ability has diminished, and I was always a good student, but now it seems that I have trouble learning and takes alot longer to do something. I think I have slight memory problems, it's hard to remember stuff from studying and I also have trouble sleeping. My eyes have gone bad, requiring me to use glasses, but not that severe since I never wear the glasses. Sometimes I zone and don't quite hear or understand what a teacher is saying. Could this be a brain tumor? I'm very scared. Please help.

The symptoms you told is not specifying that you have brain tumor. There are several centres in brain which perform different actions in our body hence you cannot tell that your symptoms specify that you have brain tumor. This symptoms mostly occur when you have some other tension. But better to have a check up so that you can confirm that you don't have brain tumor.

I just wanted to ask if you are on any prescriptions for pain, high blood pressure, cholesterol or diabetes. My husband has noticed since he has had to be on these that his memory is sketchy at times. I have noticed that he zones out a lot.

You might want to check first to see if any prescriptions you are taking might be causing this as a side effect and if not, consult your doctor.

Let us know how it goes!

wcr,
I don't think you have a brain tumor; I think you are having anxiety because college work is a lot harder than high school. The fact that you've been worrying about a brain tumor since sixth grade shows that you are an anxious person and any kind of pressure will cause you to have more anxiety. If you'd had a brain tumor since then I'm sure more symptoms would have manifested by now. Try to relax and quit worrying. If it bothers you too much go to the clinic, as the other poster suggested, and get a check up. Take care

Dietary deficiencies come immediately to mind...are you eating 3-5 servings of fruits and veggies a day?

Dietary deficiencies can cause a lot of "mental" problems...some older folks are misdiagnosed with alzheimer's disease when they really are experiencing problems absorbing the nutrients necessary for health...

There are lots of reasons why someone might be eating well and not getting the nutrition they need...but given your age, I suspect you simply aren't eating a well balanced diet...

Best get a good physical though to be sure there aren't other reasons as well.

Dear WCR666, I am extremely doubtful , that you have a brain tumor. Anxiety is more likely. A Cat Scan of the head takes 2 minutes. If you have insurance, get one.
That may ease your mind. My goodness! You have enough to worry about being in college! Even your user name suggests a bit of anxiety. But demand a cat scan to ease your mind. Even if you don't have insurance, fake the right syptoms in an ER , and get one.
Good Luck!! Sherbear38

You sound like me a 30 years back. I thought I had every symptoms of cancer, heart failure, stroke, etc...Please believe me and take me at my words.
There AIN'T nothing there.
Let the doctor tests confirm the above.
