i am really impressed with the users here. I am very pleased to see that many of you have taken the time and effort to help others in need. While I am a simple college student, with very meager funds, I can offer nothing but sympathy for the families overseas. However, it is encouraging to see, and it is evident here as it is worldwide, that humanity truly does care for one other, and that when a disaster such as this occurs, we can put our religious, secular, regional, economical, and strategic differences behind us to focus on a common goal. Kudos to all who donated here, and elsewhere. Keep up the good fight.
 
Yeah...its kind of funny:

America - Population = Approx. 296 000 000
Amount Donated to Tsunami Relief as of Jan. 8th - $425 Million

Canada (where I live) - Population = Approx. 32 000 000
Amount Donated to Tsunami Relief as of Jan. 8th - $425 Million

Now c'mon....thats kinda sad....practically 9.5 times the population...and the same donation. Jeeze...
 
We have this red cross boxes in school where we can put money, and under 1lunch brake the first day the box was "out" it got full, everywhere in vasa(Finland, Swedens neighbour country) ppl can donate and, even if it is just 1$ or 1
 
bah. the way I see it is this: the earth is a form of living thing, and no, this is not going where you might think, and like any other living thing, it has a form of immune system. well, it found a place with cancerous growth, and sought to remedy the fact. think about it, this happened in the area with THE highest population density in the whole frigging world, thousands of the are eliminated, this can only make their day to day life more pleasent, after the clean up. they were overcrowded, they had too many people for jobs, and now, with a sudden and serious drop in population, there will be more jobs, cleaning up the streets, replacing jobs of the deceased, taking medically trained people to help the injured. the sheer number of people out of the way now will make those who survived feel more comfortable than ever before.

Sadly, the tsunami people has had to wait around here; we had our own inundations on february and everything has been kept on hold. It's sad.
 
If you guys are serious about doing fundraising, organize something in your workplace, school or church.
Couple buddies of mine from college talked to Red Cross, and then to the local church and put together a fundraiser. It was a moment of silence, a couple hymns, and a testimonial from someone who's close friend had gone missing.
We sent $780 total.
