TSNHD PQ Question

Are people still experiencing bad motion compression artifacts on TSNHD? Watching any HD NHL game on TSNHD results in bad pixelation/compression artifacts any time the camera pans. Still shots (team on a powerplay) look really good, just when there is motion it looks bad. I just want to see if other people are seeing this same thing. The strange part was, last night when they briefly showed the Ducks/Stars game on TSNHD in SD, the picture wasn't nearly as blocky or full of compression artifacts as the HD games were. Have others noticed this during the HD games?

Also, CBCHD games are getting a little blocky too. The Montreal/Boston game was where I noticed it the most on CBCHD (I know it was SD widescreen), however, San Jose/Calgary (also SD widescreen) wasn't noticeable at all.

I'm watching ranger game of TSN 850, pretty good picture.
Philli game on CBC 802 is maybe a slightly better picture.
I'd give Bev a gold star. And my TV is way better than i thought it would be for an LCD.
CBC OTA is maybe slightly better. No enough that most people could tell.

On my 60 inch SXRD this evening:

802 - CBC HD looks good (especially if you hate Ottawa)
850 - TSN looks just as good. Colours are little less vibrant but lots of steady detail.

No motion artifacts on either channel.

So if everyone else is saying that TSNHD looks good, then why does mine look awful? Most of my HD channels aren't very sharp and lack detail and have some kind of blocking/compression artifacts in them. TSNHD is more noticeable to me because of the white ice and the fast movement during hockey games. I always see some kind of red "blocks/streaks" in areas where there is only ice on movement. When the play gets to one end and doesn't move, the picture looks excellent. When I pause the PVR when this occurs, all the blocks/streaks are in the paused picture, which makes me believe this is a source issue or else I would think the tv would be clear if it was a tv issue and there was no movement.

I have a Panasonic 58PZ750U 1080P tv and a 9242 PVR. Can anyone help clarify what I am seeing? Does this sound like a source issue or a tv issue? I did have a board replaced in the tv and nothing cleared up and the whole pausing the PVR and having the artifacts still there in the picture really makes it sound like a source issue.

I have the same TV and PVR and I was watching TSNHD with a good picture, no artifacts at all but the picture is not as good as 802 CBC (nor the game! Go Sydney)..
I also jumped around a bit and was watching the Jays and Texas (SNHD) as well as the Raptors and Bulls.. No artifacts on any of the channels.. My biggest problem is with the sim-sub of CTV over FOXHD east when watching America Idol.
My guess is that it would be a signal problem with your dish or switch or cabling.

Mark,
If I were you i'd be trying everything i could to isolate the problem.
The 9242 has a choice of output resolutions, 720 or 1080, try both and see whats better. Try component or hdmi, see what's better. are you going thru a switch of any type?
I'd try a different souce, like a bluray player on the same inputs.

with a little (or a lot) of trouble shooting, you can islote the problem, then you can go after a resolution.

I found out the component switching in my pioneer AVR was adding noise. Well over 2 yrs old, to late to take it back.
Bypassed that and component inputs work great.

Good Luck!!

I find there is a lot of shadowing during some playoff games. But my friends in the U.S tell me it's VS. coverage problem, because he's getting the same with there coverage

EDIT: Is it just me or did the Philly vs. Wash. game tonight look almost unconverted? Maybe widescreen?
