TSN2 no longer on 3100?

I had TSN2-SD disappear on my 9200 around the same time the HBO's were added. Did without if for a few months (since I got the hi def verion anyways) until they also moved the RSN-HD channels and my RSN west feed went missing as well so finally placed calls.

We tried everything... hard reset, check switch, synch programming, removing the card, remove and re-add all programming, etc etc and nothing worked. In the end we swapped by 9200 receiver and works perfectly now. They covered 50% of the cost since the receiver was not on warranty (went through retentions).

Obviously there is something going on here and hopefully they figure it out soon. They will have more than enough defective receivers sent in to find the problem. They must be getting a flood of calls with people missing these channels.

Read post 18 where he said he already has the Sport 1 pack. legacy or not i don't see how you would have to call to get them to give you that theme pack when he is still recieving TSN

Althought this is not my area of expertise, I think you need to make sure you have the latest programming packages to receiver TSN2. If you have older packaging this may explain why you don't have the channel.

I have the newest packages...went there to get all 5 HD themes...I think it came out to 2.50 more...any other ideas???

I've not seen any indication that TSN2 was ever a preview station that I can recall (i.e. the guide never showed (INFO), nor was any mention of it in the show descriptions themselves, like there was for cosmoTV, for eaxample).

And typically, when a network has been in preview on its regularly established slot, the network merely goes RED on your channels guide when the preview ends, not disappears completely.

It sometimes disappears.
Its possible a none grandfathered issue they did the same with showcase and others. What vintage of programing do you have?

Like 2002! I'm paying the $5 premium for maintaining old programming.

maybe its time to upgrade, although just for TSN2 I'd leave it alone.

Then why are most of us continuing to get TSN2 on certain receivers, but not others? If we lost TSN2 because it came off free preview, why didn't we lose it on all our receivers?

Although I am on a legacy HD package, I DO subscribe to the SD Sports 1 theme pack (in fact, the vast majority of us do, because it was (and IIRC still is) a requirement that you subscribe to the SD TSN to get the HD TSN. However, I've also lost the SD version of TSN2 on my 6100. Does this mean if I only have a SD TV and want TSN2, I have to subscribe not just to SD Sports 1 theme pack (or SD TSN pick and pay) AND the "new" HD Sports theme pack (or HD TSN pick and pay) in order to get TSN2 in SD? Good luck with THAT, Bell :o

It sounds just like the problems with HBO Canada early this year where an old database was loaded into the datastream, it took away the channel from lots of people. A call to India fixed that problem.

I was told that since I had the legacy programming I was supposed to lose TSN2 in December 08, but with administration problems it wasn't removed until April 1st.
If I wanted it I would have to upgrade to a newer version of my package. Pay 3 dollars for digital basics 2.50 for the channel and lose a lot of my existing channels.
Too bad:

I'm with you richard. I've run the numbers with what I have now (the old Super 7 package) and what it would cost for the similr stations and even with $6 legacy package surcharge, I'm still ahead keeping my old packages -- either I pay more or I end up with about 5 fewer stations that I actually watch.

So, unless they add more to the standard, take away more than TSN2 (hey Comedy2 was missing for 6 month, we survived), or I change to HD, I'm sticking with Super seven.

I called the guys in India and got about 3 different answers in 90 seconds. One was that it wasn't a "real" channel. After that I sort of lost confidence in anything the guy was saying....after screaming for 5 minutes, I said "How much and what do I have to do to get this channel?" After sharpening his pencil and figuring out things, he came back with a price of $10.47....FOR ONE CHANNEL:o. I politely declined.
I'm guessing it is a programming thing based on old receivers and programming packages. Both mine date back to about 2002. Looks like I'm out of luck.
Also on a side note, I notice "the FIght Network" something I don't subscribe to, has also disappeared from programming grid. Not sure if this is related problem.

For all of you who are not having it show up, have you tried the Synchronize Programming feature on the Bell site? This almost always clears up any such issues for me fairly quickly. It basically sends out a reauthorization signal to all receivers on your account.

First off...you must be on the "new" package of programming...(I believe it's called Genesis)...and second you have to subscribe to Sports 1...

If you have an older receiver (3100)...you have to have your smartcard reprogrammed...not re-synced...(I believe the difference is this: re-programming the smartcard entails wiping it first...then sending out a hit)...

It becomes more apparent if you think of it in terms of a clean install of Windows...as opposed to re-installing Windows over the same version you have now...and hoping it fixes your problem...

Don't ask me why this happened...but what I suggest worked for me...
