Trying to remember titles.............

There were 2 animated films that I loved when I was a little girl (I'm 40 now) and I am trying to remember what they were called. I was hoping someone here might know!

The first was a story about a statue of a golden prince who stood high over a town and could see poverty so instructed a bird to gradually strip him of his gold leaf and and jewelled eyes and carry it to the poor people. I think he then got rusty and the bird died but I'm not sure! Most cheerful!

The second film I think was made by the same animators and it was about a friendly giant who lived in a fortress away from townsfolk and I seem to remember him rescuing a little girl and he was so big she sat in the palm of his hand.

Both films had a kind of hippy vibe, a little bit like Yellow Submarine.

I'd be very grateful if anyone knows what the hell I'm on about, or if not how do you search for stuff like this on the interweb??

Never mind! Ignore me! I've found them - inspiration struck! They were called The Selfish Giant and The Happy Prince if anyone is interested.

Sorry to have wasted your time.:o

I remember reading the happy prince and it was a lovely story and i remember there was a picture of the dead bird (robin i think it was) at his feet and i remember crying my eyes out. Didnt the robin have to burst his heart to save the world or something like that?
