The book is about a girl named Jillian who is in sixth grade and moves to New York with her mother to marry her new stepfather. Suddenly she has a new stepsister, who is really snobby and mean. Jillian makes friends with a girl named Emily who lives in the same apartment as her, and since they both hate camp and are supposed to go to one, they ditch it and instead go to another apartment in the complex to take care of the lady's cat, who is on vacation. They have an amazing view of the apartment building out the window, so they start spying on people. They notice a boy in one of the rooms sitting on a bed. Every day they see him, and he's always in the same place, looking sad and lonely. They begin to worry about him, and everything gets worse when they hear about a boy that was kidnapped in the newspapers, and they recognize the boy in the room from the pictures. Teaming up, Emily, Jillian, and her stepsister go to the apartment to try to save him, and get kidnapped themselves.
Unfortunately, that is all I read. I was at the cliffhanger, and then I lost the book! It's been lost for about a year now and I doubt I'll ever find it. And I can't remember the title. I think it had the word "apartment" in it. So please, whoever recognizes the book please tell me the title. I'm desperate!
