Trying to Install a Chandelier in the Bedroom of my new apartment. The ceiling is pre-wired for a fan or something similar. I open up the ceiling cover and there is a Black, White, Red and Copper Wire. Connected to the Chandelier there is a Black, White, Yellow/Green Mixed Wire. I connect Black To Black and White To White and the Chandelier lights up but the wall switch does not turn it off. I then proceed and connect Yellow/Green to Red and leave copper alone and when I use the wall switch to turn on the Chandelier it turns off the circuit breaker switch and kills the power to 1/2 of my apartment. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help?
