I read it years ago. I think one girl moves, and gets befriended by an eccentric girl who has red-rimmed glasses, but no lenses in them. They find a factory or something in the forest, and think it's haunted, but I think that when the book ends it's all explained and there's an old lady involved. This has been bugging me for some time!
