I read a book many years ago, and I only remember some details from the plot line. The book started out with a man who crashes into, possibly, a water tower, on his way towards his childhood home. He gets out of the car while injured, and makes his way to the town. He enters his old abandoned house and begins to hallucinate about his mother. He finds a carving of his name on the kitchen table, which may have triggered the thoughts. He had a vivid memory of beating up a kid in his youth, because he was peeping while his mother was getting changed. I do not remember any more from the middle, but i believe at the ending, the narrator is revealed to be the man's daughter. I may be fusing two books together, but does anyone know what this story is?
