In when I was in 8th grade (11 years ago) we had a text book in my English class filled with short stories. There was one about a man that is in an isolated valley in the Rocky Mountains and he finds all kinds of creatures that have been collected. He finds out there is a kind of alien machine that was left there a very long time ago whose job was to collect. He ends up destroying the machine. Does anyone know what the name of this short story is and/or its author?
. Hm.. I THINK it may be "There Will Come Soft Rains" by this guy that writes about the future. Not sure
