trying to disconnect att internet?

Well iv been having Att internet for close to 4 years now and a few months back i decided to upgrade my internet speed from basic to pro, and now I'm trying to disconnect it but when i call the customer center they say that by upgrading the speed i renew my contract witch when i call the lady did not tell me any thing about it, now that I'm trying to cancel Att they want to charge me 150 dollars just for a contract that i did not know anything about and less alone agree to it, is there any way of cancel in it without having to pay 150 bucks for cancellation fee? im sure if she checks the recordings she will see the lady i talk to didn't tell me anything of "renewing" contract
