Trying to decide what device to get after I get a job...

I kinda wanna move away from iOS. It was fun to tweak but I think I could have a lot more fun on Android. I'm already in a contract on Verizon so I'd have to pay a lot for any phone I get, or I could get a tablet in a contract for whatever that would wind up costing. That Galaxy S2 sounds pretty kickass but unfortunately there isn't one for Verizon as far as I'm aware. The Xoom looks nifty too, but I don't know how widely used the tablets are or if there have been any custom firmwares or nifty mods or tweaks made for them.

It'd be appreciated if you guys posted opinions about devices you've used or upcoming devices, and post about mods and tweaks and cfws and such too. Thanks! :D

(I'm a computer hobbyist so I'm not a newb, but I know little to nothing about Android. felt like sharing that.)

Just wait out the Samsung Galaxy S II. It's not on Verizon because, it's not in the states yet. So far, names have been leaked for AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon versions of the phone.

Ahh. Are there any rumors about how much it'll cost in the states? According to the google box, the cheapest price for it exchanges to about 800 USD, with most of them significantly higher. I'll probably wind up paying $150 or whatever to cancel my contract and get the phone with a contract for cheaper. Is there any cfw or mods or anything for it yet?

Do we know anything about mods or anything released or in progress for it yet? I know it's a new phone, and I don't know how fast that stuff comes out in the Android community. The bootloader isn't locked, right? I certainly hope not.

Could I get some information on other devices? It's quite possible that the GS2 will be totally out of my price range.

I don't know anything about mods or release dates. It's only over seas right now so, I don't really keep up with it too well. I know the original Galaxy S has had Cyanogen for a long time now and was heavily supported by the modding community. Not sure what's taking them so long to release the SGS2 here in the states. It is what I'm holding out for....
