Okay, so I am on a mission to lose 40lbs. Most of the problems I've had regarding food up to this point has been mostly due to my family's poor eating habits (I'm 19, living with my parents). I do go shopping with my mother every week and I can get her to buy fruits, veggies, wheat bread, and healthy snacks with the promise that I'll eat them, but I can't really stop her from buying 10 cans of Chef Boyardee when its on sale. I don't really care about things like that because I know I won't eat it (I don't even crave it, things like that are just plain disgusting).
However, other things are much more difficult. For instance the overuse of vegetable oil in everyone's cooking (rather than extra virgin olive oil or canola oil), butter in the vegetables at dinner, the whole milk, packaged noodle sides with powdered sauces, etc. I need help convincing the rest of my family to change these habits. I've tried before, and they don't think making small changes would make any difference. Having a job and being a full time student, I can't exactly cook dinner every night to ensure that its healthy. And, its not like I'm the only one trying to lose weight, the rest of my family could stand to lose quite a bit of weight themselves.
Any ideas?
