trunk lights on pontiac grand am 2002?

cant figure out why theres no lights in my trunk. bought new lights but it was a waste of 5$ (not a big deal right). aperantly theres no separte fuse for the trunk light, meaning if the fuse of the lights in the trunk does not work something else shouldnt work either. help me out. a nice guy suggested that it might be a switch (which i have no idea where to look) help me out. Switch location. Two places look. One within the locking mechanism, or the second place, in the hinge to trunk lid.
