...or maybe its more of a case of no life! yeah, thats prob more the case in hindsight!
crappy day for a change in ADL today so thought id give the bike some TLC after treating me so well the last couple of gorgeous days round town and thru the hills.
spent nearly 2 hours cleaning the chain, each individual link got attention..hmm i figure it will give me atleast another 10KW! haha
apologies for the blurry photo, it was taken with the phone!

oops, i kinda forgot the main reason i wrote this (idiot!) what do people use for the chain cleaning process? ive been using AVTUR/diesel sprayed on to loose up the grime, then spraying WD-40 to clean the last bit of residue off and a rag, then after a drying period some crazy yamalube stuff, its the goods! i forget the name of it, but its worked a treat on this bike and my last so im stickin with it. also what does everyone else do to clean the chain, im guessin not everyone dedicated 2 hours to clean the chain..or am i wrong??

That's actually very interesting, especially the WD-40 part. I was curious myself and did a little bit of digging. The WD thing has apparently gone back and forth about if it harms the chain. From what I've come up with, it doesn't seem to.

I managed to find this letter from WD-40:

"Dear Mr. Lemoine,

Thank you for contacting WD-40.

WD-40 is a multi-purpose light lubricating oil and cleaner. The WD-40 will definitely displace and remove the water or moisture from the chain. The "WD" stands for water displacement. It will also act as a rust preventative on any of the metal surfaces. WD-40 will not dry out the rubber o-rings. We have found no visible effects on surfaces of rubber and o-rings. Certain types of rubber will swell under prolonged immersion in WD-40 (this refers to long soaking and not just a spray)

Please feel free to contact me with any questions and concerns that you have about any of our WD-40 products."

Personally, I'm going to do a light application of WD to remove dirt and the old lube and then go with this stuff:

The issue opponents of WD-40 have with it is that it's a penetrating fluid, they're afraid it will dissolve and flush out the grease inside the rollers behind the o-rings. I personally have used it for years and won't use anything else, short of leaving a chain to soak in a tube of the stuff i think it's perfectly safe.

Now that's a clean chain! Its actually not bad if you have some music going and a nice ah, beverage to keep you company when the weather is too crummy to ride...

This stuff is the ticket. Dupont Teflon dry lube.

Good looking chain btw =)

Always love to give the bike a thorough cleaning. They just look so nice once it is done. Then you get to take it out and get it all dirty again riding the piss out of it. LOL.

apologies, i used to use yamalube stuff, but for the last 2 times ive used this stuff, and its great! lasts for ages, goes on thin but sticks like crazy (altho a bit of diesel takes it right off), and it has a slight amber so u know where its applied. HIGHLY recommended, i know il get it again fo sure!
