Troubles with app market downloads??

I have been having troubles downloading apps from the app market. It says starting download... and then nothing happens. It stays at that till the battery dies. Anyone one have a suggestion to fix it??
 
Mine is Samsung Galaxy3(India) and I too have the same problem.
Whenever I try to go to market , I am asked to set up and account and when I enter my mail id and pass owrd it says please try after sometime.
Can anybody please help?

Go to menu>settings>manage apps>all - find the market app and clear the cache and it it has uninstall update, do that too. Hopefully that should fix it.
