suggestion for ways to stop drinking...without AA
ways to help treat the addiction

Well...if you don't want to join AA, are you religious? Religion or even just talking to a non-judgmental religious person can really help a lot.

If you aren't, you can go with good old self-control. I KNOW it's not the same thing, but that's what I did with smoking. No matter how bad I want a cigarette, I just say no. I know this isn't possible with all things or people...because I can't say no to amphetamines.

Sorry if this wasn't much help.
Good luck.

Your statement raises 2 questions from my perspective - fyi, I speak from years of experience battling drug addiction and now have 10 years clean and sober from all substances, including alcohol.

The question I have is why do refer to yourself as an alcoholic, and also, why the relunctance to include AA as a part of recovery from alchol abuse.

There is obviously more to the story, and it would be helpful to undestand in more depth why you are asking the question. One of the principles of the AA or NA program is to reach out and help another addict who is suffering. When I came across your post I wanted to help in any way possible.
