Trouble with Treos! Looks like the Verizon 1.22 update disabled passthru mode!

I was working on a couple of Treos, QPST was seeing them, things were going great. I updated them with the new 1.22 verizon firmware, and bamn! they're gone. I can no longer see either Treo in passthru mode, and I tried tons of software programs, including CDMAWorkshop.

Anyone else notice this little quirk? I hope it's just me and bad luck with these two phones, cause every verizon treo 700w/wx is gonna be updated before it gets to me to flash to cricket. And I sort of like enabling internet on these things, and it'll be tricky without passthru mode.

I made a complementary thread with additional info and further details here:

Have you find a solution? I think Verizon/Sprint 1.0x roms for 700p is ok with bitpim, while the MR ones, 1.10/1.40.. bitpim not work.

Can you check how it is disabled?

The cricket's treo 650 is gsm right?

So you fixed your 700p nv with nvbackup at treocentral?

Can you tell me your ##RADIO version of your 700p. For the 700wx, can you do an ATIx and tell me the result (remove the ESN).

Also can you extract the radio firmware either from 700p or 700wx someway?

Guess you want to contact by email about the methoRAB..?

No, the 700P is still a brick. No one would give me an NVBackup for fear that I would steal there ESN. I have no use for anyones ESN. I'm useing Cricket, its small enough I could make up my own HTC ESN, and assign it to the phone.

So the P neeRAB a new radio board to fix it. But the first thing I did when I got it was update the firmware, then flash it, and pass thru worked before.

For do I use the ATIx command? THe bootloader?

WIll a RAM2SD extract the radio firmware?

You need a cdmabackup. the nvbackup_e000 is just the nvbackup.prc file scattered, I looked with hex editor.

the nv area from cdma modem is different than the nv area for palm apps/data.

nv area from cdma modem can contain:
1) pdpset/pdpget/MMS settings/passworRAB (can backup with cdmaupdater)
2) prl (cannot backup with cdmaupdater)
3) EVDO keys (cannot backup with cdmaupdater?) I can't find the public key in cdma backup.
4) LED light status (can backup with cdmaupdater)
5) MSL/SPC codes (can backup with cdmaupdater)
6) Passthrough/BREW/GPS keys/settings (cannot backup with cdmaupdater)

If you really did brick some outer part of the filesystem, like in 2), 3), 6).. then nobody can help. thats way beyond the CDMAUPDATER ability. unless someone with palm programming knowledge patch it like the dun hack.

Its like the "tuning parameters" for nokia phones, if you do a ##7780 hard reset IIRC, then the nokia phone never find the signal again because the tuning parameters can't be copied off the phone via menus, and need dieago etc to get it.

did you try a nverase before, and restore a cdmaupdater backup? I guess you don't have backup of anything.

Hence the need for serial/bitpim, because not all files are backup. I looked at Sprint/Telus/Verizon cdma backups.

Telus cdma backup - does not let you "SAVE" the ##DATA settings

Verizon - LED flashes when phone has signal, Orange lid up when data connect. While the others, only LED flashes when you miss call. I like the Verizon one because it tells you the phone is "ON"

There is no method (unless you are a programmer/disasserabler/reverse enginner) to backup the CDMA firmware. not even in CDMA DBG bootloader

Please read through some of my howto about the stuff.. I think they can be easily found, confusing but good luck.

From now on there is no more progress in 700p stuff... I have tried everything I know of... the EVDO key remains a mystery unless someone solves the passthrough thinggy.

but if I reset my PRI, it only reverts to Telus's PRI. I don't have any other carriers PRI. even if you can back it up for me with r2sd, I still don't know how to flash PRI onto the ROM...

I do not have much knowledge about the PRI, I only know it store an xml file and your phone_on.jpg and phone_off.jpg... and its checksum.

If you can send me a VZW PRI then tell me how to flash the PRI I can try it.

Even after flashing to another carrier's ROM, I still have Telus startup/shutdown screen... so therefore its located in the PRI section in the ROM (after the ROM)
