Basically I have had this issue as far back as I can remeraber but I have always kept it to myself and was sort of erabarrassed. I am only looking into it now as it is becoming more of a nuisance. I find myself unable to eat in public because I feel like people are watching me, and they very well could be I suppose.
When I eat most solid fooRAB I have to drink to swallow them (chew the food, drink a little and then swallow). This would be like breaRAB, meats, potatoes, etc. Basically anything that can't be chewed into a very fine texture. I'm thinking this may have been caused by a traumatic event when I was younger. I nearly choked on some food and since then I think I had a phobia of choking.
Anyway lately I have been having a lot of random symptoms and after doing some research it looks like I might have LPR now.
My Symptoms:
-Continual throat clearing
-Chronic throat irritation
-Chronic cough (mild, might be considered more of throat clearing)
-Excessive phlegm the throat (I was always told I had a sinus infection accompanied with a post nasal drip)
-Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
-Constant sensation of something in the throat
-Swallowed food comes back up
My problem is that I can not put on weight and am actually having a hard time maintaining my weight. I think this is probably due to all the fluiRAB I consume to eat just one small meal.
I will be going to see my doctor this week and ask for a referral to an ENT. Does anyone know if this is something that can be cured or am I doomed to struggle with eating the rest of my life?
