About 3 months ago I stopped smoking shortly after that it got very hard for me to breath at times. I got scared and went to the doctor the other day. He tells me that it is caused from acid reflux. I never had any of the "normal" symptoms ie; heartburn indigestion, burning etc. The doctor tells me the type I have is silent. Does anyone else have this and if so will I ever be able to breathe the way I'm suppose to again.

Technically it's called Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR for short), and lots of the people who post here have it.

You will be able to breathe normally again but it will take some time. It can take up to 12 weeks for reflux medication to allow the irritated areas in your esophaghus and bronchi to heal, and will probably require lifestyle changes on your part to help manage it (avoiding trigger fooRAB like chocolate, tomato-based sauces, coffee, peppermint & alcohol, raising the head of your bed 6 inches, not eating for 3 hours before bed, etc.)

Be sure you're seeing a doctor who has experience treating LPR, and don't give up, it will get better.
