I have recently noticed that sometimes only on warm nights (~30C &up) while trying to sleep or in the middle of sleep that it feels as if i have trouble breathing & heart rate is off or different. And ill sit up in a panic breathing a bit heavily. It almost feels like my heart rate is really slowing down when it happens. But it also feels like it all might be a panic attack. Personally i think warm air just isn't my thing. I can work on a warm day no probs with heart rate. its just when i lay in bed relaxed, it can feel like my heart rate is slowing down & that its harder to breath while asleep in the warm air.

I really hate the heat & usually have the air con running while sleeping. But its not working this summer.

Any ideas?

It does sound as though you're feeling anxiety, I feel the same way. At night while I sleep, I need to feel some cool air to breath, so I have a ceiling fan, that makes thing much better for me:)
Try any kind of a fan, next to your bed, so you will get some air blowing on you.
I do struggle with anxiety, so I totally relate to you!
And I have even done the startling thing, and popped up, when I feel like I can't breath, and started taking deep deep breaths of air. And it feels as though my heart is pounding = ANXIETY.

Hope you feel better!
