...Is bearing down on us. It looks like it's going to go east of us, but it's moving slow, and building power fast, which means its path could be unpredictable. As of half an hour ago, the airport is closed, and the ferry service is suspended, so I can't get out of here if I wanted to. We're definitely going to get some wind here. Probably upwards of 60 MPH, but it's too early to tell HOW upwards.

Anyway, it rained the past two days, and even with that rain and no wind, the power went off for hours here. We may be down for days after this. Wish me luck. And if you don't hear from me in a couple days... Just wait longer!

Kidding! Get some dry ice, beer, and some books. You should pull through just fine, dude. I remember that bitch Katrina.

Also, invest in a chainsaw and find a buddy with a pickup truck. They may need some help cleaning up roads, and it's the right thing to do.

And hos, There's no where to get dry ice on this island, and all off island transit is suspended, so I'm SOL on that front. Beer, check. Books, check.

I've been through a couple of hurricanes in my day. My house is near the water, but pretty high above sea level. It's all concrete, so I'm unlikely to be in any serious danger. Nevertheless, if it looks like it's going to get really hairy, I can ride out the storm at my parents' house. They have a place tucked between two hillsides, and my dad built that roof, so I know just how sturdy it is. I know it's not going anywhere.
 
Well, that's why noone would see it coming, it would be this Oh my god a zombie hurricane! It would be perfect.
