Tropic Thunder

The trouble with this film is that it is a 10 minute TV spoof expanded to feature length.

It also has pretensions to satire which fall seriously flat.

BTW was Owen Wilson slated to play Stiller's agent before his attempted suicide?

That role had his patented schtick written all over it.

just went to see this yhesterday thought it was funny but its my sense of humour

this man in front also said the same thing abut the fatties trailer-turned round to his wife and said cant wait to see that!

i thought rdj stole the whole film with a good cameo from tc

Going to see this next weekend, but some of the coments on this thread don't fill me with hope! I'll give it ago and see what i think for myself.

It's very funny at times. My problem is that I don't find spoofs particularly funny. There's just too much action, and too much effort put into creating Apocalypse Now-type scenes, for the comedy to hold its own. As others have said it's a very well-written film and Stiller's direction is fine, but the humour is swamped by the special effects and over-researched music.

But well worth seeing, for Cruise (obviously) and for the quite vicious swipes at Hollywood stereotypes in the opening sequence.

I saw this film last week and have to admit it was somewhat of a let down.

I did expect a lot as it's written by Ben Stiller and the trailer did look funny as.

Have to admit the panda scene was hilarious as well as the Happy Jack scenes XD

I totally agree with previous comments in that I also wasn't sure whether this movie was trying to be an action comedy or a satire as it didn't quite succeed at being either. Started off as a good satire but then came the big budget action scenes but then it went a bit satirical again, then action... and just couldn't quite get into it as a result. Downey and TC have the best scenes in the movie but most of them are featured in the trailer anyway so I was left a tad disappointed at the end- 6/10

Sad but true, i was easily amused 10 years ago by crap films from hollywood, now i dont even bother watching them
as 99% coming from HW are for the brain dead :(

I must be getting old. I failed completely to find anything even remotely funny in this film.

Does anyone else just get the feeling that it's just a bunch of high profile actors/frienRAB churning out crap to keep each other employed and in the money.

If this had been made by a bunch of unknowns as an attempt to crack the market, it wouldn't have made it past stage 1.

I had read some reviews who were calling it hilarious and I genuinely thought there was something wrong with me when I didn't see or get the joke.
