Tropic Thunder

excellent film well worth checking out when it opens over here, i haven't laughed so much for a long time :)

oh and look out for
Tom Cruise
playing totally against type.

btw, i am very impressed it got only a 15 here as the language is seriously over the top and the violence although comical is very graphic.

I thought this was quite good, I agree it could have been better, but overall I enjoyed it. I actually thought Cruise was good in this and I'm not a fan of his, I didn't realise it was him till halfway through, even though I knew he was in it.

I saw it a few weeks ago, really enjoyed it. Funnnnnnnnn movie. I laughed so much when Steve Coogan's character
was blown up by a mine
, ha ha. Oh and the
Panda bit in the jungle

a rubbish film. ben stiller was the same he always was, jack black was pointless and RDJ only got a handful of laughs.

didnt know whether it was a satire or a comedy with action or an action film with a few laughs.

tom cruise's charcater was vaguely amusing but the scene with him at the end was embarrassing, and seemed tacked on too

Came into it with fairly low expectations after all the poor reviews I'd read, but I quite enjoyed it. Not the funniest film ever, but still good fun, and Downey Jr was just fantastic.

I agree that it started to sag towarRAB the end, and they could have perhaps done a bit more with the concept, but like I said, I found it decent enough. Although I think the funniest bit was
the fake trailers at the start. Especially the Eddie Murphy-bating "Fatties Fart 2"

i liked it though i agree there was the potential there for it to be much better...though i absolutely hated

tom cruises character

he was an absolute weirdo and you could tell that it was more a case of the audience and stiller laughing at him rather than with him..it was really embarrassing and strange

You sound a bit like me. I'm always getting dragged to these frat pack comedies and I outgrew them years ago. I don't mind them at home when I can have a few drinks as well.

Looking forward to Ocean's 14 ;)

I saw Stiller on Jonathan Ross and he said he came up with the movie in the mid 80s when all the nam movies were cropping up.
It would be interesting to probe him on that fact though.

I agree the certificate should be higher due to the violence.
I had to look away for the head on a stick bit!!!
Even though it was still funny

I was very dissapointed with it to be honest. The trailer makes it look ALOT funnier than the film actually is.

The start was quite funny and promising, but then the middle really sagged and just wasn't very funny to be honest (and this is coming from a BIG Stiller and Jack Black fan). Tom Cruise's character was too forced and his final scene was just cringeworthy. Jack Black wasn't used enough and wasn't really needed. Robert D Jr. was fantastic and had some of the best lines - but most of the times I couldn't understand what the hell he was saying.

It was an average film. Step Brothers and Pineapple Express are ALOT better. :(

Finally got around to seeing it and i thought it was a great comedy! Not the best by all means but certainly not the worst.

Loved all the different cameos and well everyone knows he's in the film by now and i thought Tom Cruise was inspired casting! Found his scenes really cringeworthy but also very highly amusing at the same time! :D
OMG the dancing! LOL.
The trailers at the beginning were brill and i thought Stiller, Black and Downey, Jr did a fantastic job, but the 2 other actors who were with them were also very good!

Loved the banter between Kirk Lazarus and Alpa Chino! Fcuking hilarious! :D

Very graphic violence in places but not too over the top although
Steve Coogan's dead head
was seriously gross!

Saw this last night and I wasn't that impressed with it. Not as funny as the trailer makes out, although I thought Tom Cruise and RDJ were the better characters.

Didnt help either to have two people constantly chatting at normal voice level two rows behind me and still didnt shut up when I told them to.

I watched this last week with my sister. It was awful!!!!

The funniest thing about it was my sister believing that the trailers at the start were `real` and telling me she wanted to see the monk film with Tobey Maguire! :D
