Tropic Thunder = Goodness

I finally managed to see this just a few days ago.

It was ( on my own scale of ratings) " A Bit Ace".

I thought Downey Jnr, and to a slightly lesser extent, Tom Cruise, were fantastic.

I'd only heard a few snippets about the film banded about, so I decided to pick ity up for myself and the loverly wife, both of us laughed the entirity of the film. Which I was surprised by, as I find the majority of film comedies very boring.

I urge anyone who hasn't watched it, to at least give it a veiwing and anyone who watched it once to try it again.

I didn't expect to like it either and avoided up until this weekend. Didn't think Tom Cruise was the scene stealer that has been made out, he was funny, but not amazing.

Downey Jr was excellent though and I found it all quite funny (not sure why but the panda bit had me in stitches!?)

I didn't expect it to be any good and I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Thought Robert Downey Jr really deserved the Bafta/Oscar nominations, excellent bit of acting. Surprised by how good Tom Cruise was too, the dance bit was fab.
I thought the panda bit was hysterical too.

Tom Cruise was unreal in this flick. Totally took me by surprise. I have never heard him curse like that. EVER. IT was hilarious.

The only funny part in the whole movie was where Stiller said he was going back to live with the people in the village. And that the rest were to leave on the chopper without him. Then when he disappears over the bridge on the otherside, we hear guns going off, then Stiller running back across the bridge with a very sudden change of heart. As he was running back to the choppa the wee midget guy [sorry vertically challenged guy] jumped him. And Stiller tossed him to the side like a rag doll and he went flying over the side of the bridge LOL.

it just wasn't very good.

ben stiller doing the same thing he always does

jack black total waste of time

RDJ funny to begin with but the joke wore thin very fast

as for tom cruise - oooh its tom cruise SWEARING!!!

that dance he did at the end was nothing short of creepy

best thing about it was all the morons in the audience who didn't realise it was TC going 'oooh' when his name came up. and as for that actually - the only reason they showed who was playing who in the credits was so they could go 'look aren't we clever! that was TOM CRUISE!!'

Pretty spot on summing up there. It's comedy for the easily amused. And you're absolutely correct - the Cruise "dance" was very wrong, and very disturbing.

Or perhaps it's a comedy for people with very different tastes to your own? Just because you do not like it doesn't mean that anyone who does is "easily amused" or retarded. People like different types of comedy and there will always be people out there who don't get it, become scared of it and cast stones at people who like it.
